This book and its wonderful photographs by Jan van de Kam bring to life the dramatic journeys of migratory shorebirds in the East Asian – Australasian Flyway, the importance of their staging sites and the need for international cooperation to maintain this cycle.

Thi is an bilingual publication on the African Waterbirds.

Counts by thousands of volunteers havetaken place troughout Africa every year since 1991. The results of these annual counts are presented in this pubication, providing an unique insight in the status of the African Waterbird Populations.

Results of the Asian Waterbird Census: 2002–2004. The report demonstrates the significant value of the Waterbird Census, which covered 2,032 sites across 22 countries, with nearly 8 million waterbirds recorded in all three years. Of the total 274 waterbird and 61 wetland-dependent species recorded, 43 were Globally Threatened species.

This publication presents the results of the waterbird counts of January 2003, 2004 and 2005 made in nine countries in Central Asia and the Caucasus.
